CHECK IN / OUT TIMES
Imagine living in your own fisherman's cottage, amongst fynbos, right next to a white sandy beach that stretches for kilometers, with safe swimming in balmy Indian Ocean water. Continue this with modern conveniences, safety and access to facilities. Langezandt Fishermans Village at Struisbaai near Cape Algulhas offers all this. It is completely in character in the vernacular of the Overberg Strandveld, an area steeped in the history of seafarers, shipwrecks, pioneers and Stone Age inhabitants. The village itself is nothing short of stunning, and boasts the longest continuous stretch of the white sand coastline in the Southern Hemisphere, according to legend, Struisbaai is name after the size of the beach, an old Dutch word for huge. The area is not only famous for its beach, the fishermens cottages in the area at Hotagterklip have been declared national monuments. They are often featured in the paintings of many South African artists. The unusual name of this little place comes from the days of the first wagon track, when a stone outcrop imposed a sharp detour on all travelers. In 14:00 / Out 10:00
